The Kraken
His grandfather's map had a tiny red X, out past where the gulls fly. Nobody told Finn what the X meant. Nobody needed to. He already knew he was going to find out. A story about a small boat, a very large sea, and the most surprising thing Finn has ever been given.

Finn had three things he trusted: his brass spyglass, his grandfather's map, and the sea.
The map was old, with wrinkled edges and a tiny red X. His grandfather had drawn it himself, the summer he'd found something wonderful out past the harbour, and had pressed it into Finn's hands the day Finn was old enough to row.
The sea was wide enough to swallow the sky.
