Sir Odo and the Low Lance
Sir Odo is the smallest knight at Thornfield — too short to see over the rail, riding a pony who keeps eating his gloves. So when the mighty Sir Brannoc challenges him, Odo has just one small, clever idea: aim low. A funny medieval underdog tale, drawn like an illuminated manuscript (with a snail hidden on every page).
The Chest That Wouldn't Shut
Every knight in the seven valleys had ridden to Thornfield for one thing: the chest on the king's table, so stuffed with gold that its lid wouldn't close. Pennants cracked overhead. Somewhere a trumpet was having an argument with another trumpet. Sir Odo had ridden there too. He squeezed through the crowd to see the jousting rail, and found he had to stand on his toes to see over it.
Behind him, somebody snorted.
